Meet the Team
We are delighted to introduce you to some of the team members at The Hazelwell who are here to assist you. Each member of our team is highly trained, specially selected and dedicated to delivering excellence in care.
Sue, who is Wirral born and bred, is no stranger to the care industry, having worked in a wide variety of roles since leaving school having been inspired by her mothers’ own career in care. She started her career as a care assistant in a local care home before quickly progressing to senior carer.
Finding the work rewarding Sue realised it was the career for her and went on to study nursing at the North Staffordshire School of Nursing in Stoke-on-Trent in 1988. Since then, she has used her skills and wide experience to benefit the lives of the elderly and people with dementia working in various care homes. Sue has also managed a home in London for clients with learning disabilities.
Passionate about ‘person-centred care’ and a ‘dignity of care champion’, Sues’ first priority is to encourage The Hazelwell’s highly-trained staff to continue their high standards in dignity, respect, privacy and independence for the residents.
Sue is qualified to train carers in the home and also has a qualification to deliver moving and handling training.
Sue lives on the Wirral and with her son Dominic. Sue enjoys theatre, cinema, vintage scooters, walking, reading and music.
Sue said “I am so happy to be a part of the excellent team at The Hazelwell and to be able to offer my experience and passion to make it the best care home it can possibly be. It’s a wonderful thought that I followed my mother into this profession and here I am all these years later still loving it. I am really proud to have followed the same path as her.”

Karen’s role is designed to provide guidance and support as you search for the right care home for you or your loved one. She will be your first port of call for all enquiries, whether that’s regarding a short respite stay or a more permanent move. We understand how daunting this journey can be, Karen is here to support and assist you with the process and give you the opportunity to discover all the great things the Hazelwell has to offer.
Karen has over 7 years experience as a Home Administrator, gaining her NVQ3 in Business & Administration.
In her spare time, Karen enjoys walking her dog, curling up with a good book and a nice glass of something chilled. Please pop in if you are passing, Karen has a really good listening ear and always makes time for a cup of tea and a chat.
