A Heartfelt Gesture of Thanks for One of Our International Carers

At The Hazelwell, we pride ourselves on creating a true sense of family, not only among our residents but with every member of our team. This month, we were deeply moved by a special moment that captured the warmth and gratitude that regularly shine within our home.

Benson is one of our dedicated international carers and recently returned to his home country of India for a well-earned holiday to visit his family. Before he left, one of our residents gave him a handwritten card addressed to his mother, a truly heartwarming gift.

The message inside was simple yet deeply touching. The resident expressed her heartfelt thanks to Benson’s mum for raising such a compassionate and caring son and for supporting his journey to the UK to care for others. She acknowledged how difficult it must have been to see her son travel thousands of miles to look after people she would never meet, and how grateful she and her family were for that sacrifice. The card described Benson as “valued and much needed in the UK”, adding that the care he provides is not only appreciated but cherished by everybody at The Hazelwell.

When Benson gave the card to his mum, it brought tears to her eyes. She told him that reading those words filled her with pride. For Benson, knowing that his mum felt proud was a moment of fulfilment and a sign that he was truly making a difference, both here and at home.

Speaking about his time at The Hazelwell, Benson shared how much he loves working in the home. He described the atmosphere as unlike anything he has experienced before, and said he genuinely looks forward to coming to work each day. For him, the meaningful relationships he has built with our residents have made his role more than just a job; they’ve made it a purpose. He never expected a resident to go out of their way to write such a thoughtful message for his family, and he says he will never forget the gesture.

It’s moments like this that reflect the unique bonds formed in our home, and remind us of the impact our carers have on the individuals they care for. It is important to us that we get to know our residents beyond their medical needs, and provide them with the highest levels of person-centred support around the clock.

If you’re looking for a care home in Heswall where compassion, respect and heartfelt connections are part of everyday life, we’d love to welcome you. Call us today or book a visit to meet our team and see the difference for yourself.
