Nursing Care in Wirral

What is Nursing Care?

Nursing care can be provided to people of all ages and on a varying level, however in care homes it is most commonly given to older people and those who need support for an illness or health condition. Nursing care not only encompasses medical support, but also support for their physical and emotional wellbeing too. This means that nursing care also involves encouragement to try new activities and providing opportunities to stay as active and as sociable as possible.

At The Hazelwell, we provide high-quality Nursing Care on a varying level, from elderly care and support such as helping with mobility and getting ready, to assisting those with life limiting conditions and intense physical disabilities. Our team is available around-the-clock, allowing our residents to rest assured that we are there for them whenever they need us. Like with all our care, we take a person-centred approach, working closely with our residents and their loved ones to create a care plan that meets their individual needs.

Specialised Care Categories

Whilst care in nursing homes covers a whole range of medical support, many care homes may specialise in care for specific health conditions. This can often include bespoke units, dedicated teams and involve specialsed equipment and activities. At our residential home, our nursing team has extensive knowledge and experience in caring for residents with a variety of illnesses. Such conditions include Multiple Sclerosis, Motor Neurone Disease, Parkinson’s and many others

We also have our very own unit, named ‘The Gayton Nursing Community’ which serves residents with a variety of nursing needs. Named after the local neighbourhood of Gayton, the unit is situated on the first floor and accommodates up to 20 residents in en-suite bedrooms, which come fully equipped with profiling beds, specialist mattresses, and handling equipment. Windows and balconies of the lounges and dining areas on this floor also offer picturesque views of the River Dee and North East Wales.

Our Nursing Unit is headed up by our Clinical Lead, Jo Hunt, who leads a team of highly-qualified nurses who between them have many years of clinical training and experience. A trained nurse is on shift 24-hours a day meaning residents can feel confident knowing that support can be provided at all times, no matter what. The Nursing team is further supported by an Activities Coordinator, Wellbeing Coordinator, and Chef’s who all work tirelessly to ensure all of our residents’ needs are met.
